Sidepipes! Can I have them?
Nice car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Don't know the name off the top of my head but I'll keep my eyes open for you.. Mike - Now that I think about it. There is a guy I know that has the twin to my Z. He lives by me and I think he might have bought the car from that dealership. I'll send him an email. He is also from the area so if his car wasn't from there I'll see if he remembers it.. Also, Barnhart probably knows about the dealership. Only a stones throw away from him. |
Re: Albert Peters Chevrolet - Dundee, IL
I've lived near this area since 91, and the have been gone at least this long.
They would have to have been down the street from the now closed Santa's Village. The building, may still be standing but housing a used car dealer. |

Thanks for the replies. Must have been a real small dealership. Original owner was John Filson from Elgin. This car is pretty much original and still has the tires on it when it rolled of the dealers lot. They must of put different wheels and tires on it and then put the original rims and tires on it awhile back when it was sold to the second owner. I would think the buildsheet is still in the car somewhere, I havent even looked yet.

Re: Albert Peters Chevrolet - Dundee, IL
Jeff has his info correct and both were just down the road from Santa's Village, were you could get a land and sea/pond ride, in an Amphi-Car.
"Also Doane Chevrolet was a Dundee Chevy Dealer operating in the 60's but on Main St.. Dealer Name: Doane Chev Zone # 11 Dealer # 163 Status: No longer in Business Address: 10 E. Main St. City: E. Dundee State: IL " I believe that Dick Doane was the owner (really testing the memory bank). He was heavily into road racing and I had heard that he was one of the owners of the now defunct Meadowdale Raceway. Ronnie Kaplan (Nickey Chevrolet Racing Crew Chief and Back door engineer) won his First Daytona, on the beach Race (later disqualified) in a Doane sponsored race car, back in the 50s. Meadowdale |
Re: Albert Peters Chevrolet - Dundee, IL
Albert Peters sold a lot of new Corvettes back in the 1970s when they were hard to come by. My brother bought a new 1975 at Peters.
