Ford VIN stampings??

Did Ford stamp their engine blocks/transmissions with the VIN? I was trying to find the location of the VIN stamping on my 1966 Fairlane 500 GTA and according to the assembly manual, the engine info is on a tag attached to the ignition coil bracket, no mention of the VIN being stamped on the block. If true, maybe I need to start collecting Fords (kidding).

Re: Ford VIN stampings??

The VIN is stamped on the block and trans of my 69 Ranchero 390 GT. I think the VIN is on the engine behind the cylinder head and on the top of the trans. I think all cars after 67 had to have the engine and trans VIN stamped.

I'm really a Chevy guy, my buddy had the motor out of his '71 429 SCJ mach 1 and I noticed the VIN stamped on the rear of the block...he always said it was the original motor...but he never even knew it had the VIN stamped...sure made his day!!!
