It's the depth of the SS insert. Here is a deep one which is original and desired. The one you show is the later replacement and has a shallow insert.

NOS 4295 Holley Carburetors - Undated

In the Holley boxes. A pair of NOS 4295 crossram carburetors for a 1969 Camaro. These are undated carbs. I don't know why but the metering blocks are not the correct ones for the earlier 4295...

My GM parts book says the 3765397 was used on the 63 and 64 409 so I suspect it may have been used with various bracket configurations. I have identified the third from the left as 63 and 64 409.
