Can anyone tell me what the significance was/is of the three
colors seen on many NOS SHP parts? I'm referring to the
white, green, and purple colors seen on many rods, cranks, blocks, etc...

I've probably seen six or more of these "un-machined" rough
castings over the past 5-6 years. I tend to agree with the
suggestion that these blocks may actually be less-than-worthy;

Early '842 heads had plugs on each end. About mid-production 1969 went to one plug in one end only.

All '842 heads were closed chamber although I've seen
several sets with opened-up...
