I believe this is set up. The rear tires are relaxed instead of being twisted. If this car was actually doing this the rear tires would be distorted quite a bit.

I had a Powerglide Vega and I still have the floor shifter out of it. I put a Vega Powerglide torque converter in my '67 SS 396 Chevelle and it held up pretty well for a few years.
