It would be hard to prove without original paperwork like the L-88 Trans Am has or an old magazine/news article or ad.

I don't know that vin stamping on the trucks was ever a concern ? I have a '69 truck 396 in my '70 Chevelle and I don't recall seeing a vin stamp.

L89 El Camino build sheet

Here’s the build sheet from the El Camino that sold on BAT in March. Hope this helps. I’m sure there are other member’s with examples of documentation that will assist you as well.
