Re: Super Chevy Sunday Blast From The Past
Joe,
Kept it until 1993. Isn't that long enough? Originally I wanted a new Z28 but back in those days, your parents had to sign for you for the car insurance. 18 year olds could not afford the insurance so the parents always signed for their kids.
When I took my dad to look at Z28's, he took a look at the large racing stripes and said "you're not getting one of those cars, you'll kill yourself in it." Then one of my best friends bought as SS396 Chevelle and I followed suit. My dad thought the Chevelle looked more like a family car back then and signed on the dotted line for me.
When we got home from the dealer, he wanted to drive it and then I knew then I was in trouble. LOL. We all survived and the Chevelle is still in my family. That was the only way I could sell it.
I have an 8 x10 glossy of my 1974 girl friend driving the Chevelle at Capital Raceway. Actually I was engaged to her at the time. She made a 12 second pass believe it or not! I'll have to post that photo but it's a big file and I don't know how to post the large file photos yet.
