Re: L78 Anybody know how many were built?
If I'm wrong I'm fine w/ it but here's how I'm seeing it..

If the 4889 # represents '69 model year F-Bodies shipped w/ RPO L78, I'm in total agreement it includes those built with L89!.
As for the the 9560/9561 part, GM Canada Vintage services paperwork prepared from microfilm for '69 Copo cars by Vin also indicates L78 like the L89 equipped cars do!.
I have a copy of one of the Canadian Vintage services sheet for a Copo car that clearly shows RPO L78 also 9561 as shipped w/ the car..
Fran P and I discussed this 15/20 years ago and expected this may be why Tonawanda engine production by Suffix totals for 1969 L78 and L89's weren't enough to supply the total of 1969 F/X cars ordered w/ RPO L78/L89 but never did get the #'s all together and do the math like we'd hoped to..
As far as the L89 # 311 goes, does this represent F-Bodies shipped w/ RPO L89 or a Tonawanda engine production by Suffix quantity?.
If it's a Vehicle RPO # and the 4889 is too, the 311 can be subtracted from the 4889..
But if the 311 is a Tonawanda engine production Suffix # it would include service engines built also could include X-cars if there were any?.
Anyone here have the '69 Tonawanda engine production by Suffix totals for L78 and L89 F/X cars?.
If L78/L89 F/X engine production wasn't enough to supply the RPO's ordered, if we can get all the #'s together lets do the math and see if the 9560/9561 thing is actually possible or not?.
