First grade. The school Principal made the announcement over the P.A. and immediately instructed us to stand and sing God Bless America. Etched in my mind like it was yesterday. Some years after, I remember my father saying how absolutely awful Thanksgiving was just after the assassination.
I don't know if it was live or a replay but I remember seeing Oswald being shot on television and going down to the basement, where by father was working on something, to tell him what I had just seen. He looked at me in total disbelief and bewilderment.
I've been to Dealy Plaza. It's much more compact than it appears on television. When you're there in person, you really get a sense of how Oswald was literally "right on top" of the motorcade and really puts it in perspective.
