I purchased the 2-1/2" stainless kit from Magnaflow with the X pipe. I've pulled my trans out multiple times. I unhook them at the collector. That lowers the exhaust far enough to get the trans out.
I should clarify that I had a 427 450hp (guessing) with Flowmasters on my Nova and it was horrible. I have a friend with the original Flowmasters (2-1/2"
on his '78 Camaro with a GM 383 sbc and it sounds good. From my perspective, if you have decent power, a 3" Flowmaster system will have drone.
