Re: Pics of 15x7 reversed dish cragar with slicks!
The bulge in the early pics is an illusion ...
70 era Pro cars all used wrinkle wall slicks..... 8, 10, 12 inch wheels....depending on the slick width.
.I'm extremely familiar with competition cars from
68 & on....
1970 saw alot of back halved big tire cars
1971 saw the debut of purpose built chassis cars all with tubs to accept growing tire sizes. .
If Jenkins had 10 to 11" wrinkle walls on a 68 he used a 8 to 10" wheel ,with a slight deep outside fit to clear his ever changing suspension, traction bar, shock placement. Most all his 68 ,69,70. Cars also had enlarged wheel openings , especially in the rear forward area.....
10's on 7's. May look cool.....But Quite Dangerous even with limited Street use & a BIG NO NO ....IF you're gonna spin em hard doing burnouts or launches.....
The side walls collapse around bends and corners....the tires are much more prone to rotate on the rim ripping the tube valves.... assuming no screws.
Your 12's on 10's is Ok....but the limit.
My take on the pseudo day 2 look is just that.... why fake a look whether its tires , gauges , hoods under hood look a likes....????
A TRUE REAL DAY 2 CAR ....STREET n STRIP or DRAG RACE .....IS Done with Period correct parts not just s TRACTION ACTION DECAL & A MALLORY COIL.
I'M An Avid Died in the Wool Real World DAY 2 CAR Guy......DAY 2 today seems very watered down where I Like mine Un Cut & Full Strength
Just my take......
