I've been collecting oil and gas (Petroliana) items for some time now, and have some close friends who've been into this hobby for 30+ years. One thing we have all learned well is how to spot the fakes and what to stay away from. Like any hobby, there are those who will misrepresent to take advantage of another, and there are many good folks with great collections of rare originals. One such auction coming up with some fantastic original signs is the Mecum WALWORTH 2016 OCT 20-22. Killer rare signs, gasoline globes, oil cans, and vintage road signs that cover the gambit. This one is chalk full of heavy hitter items and may be a bit of an eye opener for entry level collectors.
