Update. I've been investigating alternatives to Photobucket and experimenting with a couple, here is a partial list that I've reviewed, both free and subscription based:
Amazon Prime, Cubeupload, Dropbox, Flickr, Fotki, Google Drive, Imageshack and there are several more.
The hosting service I am gravitating to is
Flickr. Its owned by Yahoo, is a free service, easy to use and intuitive, allows you to size/resize and edit photos. No doubt there are other good choices however Flickr is turning out to be a good alternative for me:
