I saw a '70 SS rear sticking out of an open garage here this spring,on my way to a local car cruise.70 year old man came walking out and told me how he acquired it in 1983 and how he wants to fix it up slowly & carefully some day.It wasn't great, but not 3/4's as bad as so many today.
He told me it was 454..asked if it was an LS-6? We removed all the blankets & crap piled up on it,walked around & opened the hood, and it is...headers & all.
In no way am I a buyer of it,and he has no plans to sell it.But when he dies, his kids have already bookmarked instructions of how to take it to a B-J or a Mecum auction etc.
I drove by again last month and he waived to me as I drove by.He said if he did have to sell it,it would kill him.Said he is blown away by the prices these are bringing @ auctions.
I took pictures, but he asked I not share them,as he says people today can decipher too much from a photo and he doesn't need that contact aggravation.I don't know if this is an indication, but based on our conversation,he hypothetically referenced $100K often.
