The stainless capped ones shown as "originals" are the low crown 74 up lug nut... (the first mention I have found them is in the Spring of 1973 with the turbine wheel parts list in the Camaro Assembly manual -the wheel I believe was actually introduced in 1974.)

The inline tube lugs are closer (in appearance - not at all technically) to the original GM open faced lug nuts than any of the capped ones which are currently available.

I have researched the correct lugs extensively as I have been tinkering with reproducing them (original tall crown crimped on stainless caps) and have submitted the technical drawings and specs to a couple of manufacturers in the last few months for quotes so we shall see...
