hi
yes getting very close now with her........my citrus mistress
lol
i was very lucky the at the car had the majority (90-95%) of her original correct numbered parts/ she also retains all original floor pans and body panels with no rust issues
i was VERY lucky to find the correct "VK" IA & CD tank radiator/ stamp rite carb bracket/ starter/ original pistons and rods/ water pump and nos correct spare tire. all the other parts were original to the car and correct part #'s
the rest was just countless hours of dis-assembly/ very carefully cleaning them all and then re-assembly..... as im leaving her in survivor condition. i removed the engine/ trans/diff / brakes/ all suspension/ interior/ all gauges and all wiring.....it was all completely dis-assembled and every piece of hardware marked as to where it came from and replaced. then all re-assembled again
the hardest part was the time in researching the parts on the car ..and ensuring they were the correct gm part #'s. in re-building the engine/ diff and suspension i even left the paint & finishes original and alone. installed all new rings & bearing...and even purchased all original 1970 GM assembly line gasket sets to re-assemble her.......that was costly but well worth it
when taking her apart i documented and cataloged all vin #'s/ individual parts numbers and took a full picture library for the car and all her parts. i have made a computer file, but will also be getting a printed book version made.... to have on display at shows
lots of info & help from syc members ...and special guidance from marlin along the way
i truly love the car
will have to get info on the shows and their dates
i am in the process of producing exact repro's of the LT1 and Z28 carb to fuel line brackets with the "STAMP RITE" on them. they will be the very same as the faactory originals....and great for those that want the correct piece but cant find one....as you all know they are impossible to find.
i am also going to exact repro's of the LT1 and Z28 1 7/8" long tapered & dimple top carb/ manifold studs that are impossible to find
thx everyone
regards
chris
