After Lee Iacocca had hired Carroll Shelby to make a race car out of a "secretary's" car . . . Which Shelby did . . . it came time to put a name to this creation. After discussions it was agreed that it would have "GT" in it's name. Finally, Shelby asked one of his engineers sitting at the conference table in the offices, "how far are we from the workshop?" The replay was . . . 350 feet.
And so was born the 1965 Shelby GT 350 moniker.
