The boy and I got out a metal detector from work and tried hunting down the old lunchbox he and his sister buried as a time capsule in the back yard 15 years ago. Ninety minutes later we had located three old soda cans, and the end of a metal fence post buried 10 inches underground. So much for trusting the memory of someone who was 4 years old when he buried the lunchbox.

It was a fun time but at 90 degrees even the dogs abandoned us after a few minutes. His sister who is on vacation was mad that we did this without her but when she saw what we found without her proper supervison and guidance on scene, she was quite happy. We told her was will reschedule to another date when she can guide us with her treasure map.
