I was not pulling for or against either team. And there was a hold on that play, albeit a minimal one. Like Lynn noted, my dislike for the call was because it was not CONSISTENT with how the refs had called the other 58 minutes of the game (not one other hold call that I saw). There was equal or more contact (before the ball was thrown) on a lot of other plays earlier in the game.

Either call it all game long, or don't call it all game long. But don't "let them play" for 58 minutes (during which the defenders are learning what they can and cannot do without a flag being thrown), and then suddenly decide that strict application of the rule is needed in the last 2 minutes. BE CONSISTENT the entire game!!

That is why I completely stopped watching college basketball years ago. One play is a foul, the next one isn't even though the contact is equal or harder. I was so mad by the end of every game (regardless of who was playing) that I just had to stop watching it altogether. At least in this SB it was only one call to gripe about, and not a pendulum of back and forth inconsistent ref'ing all game long.

Regardless, that was a great game and fun to watch. A lot better than the blowout in the 2021 game!
