The story goes like this . . .
Back in the 1980s Vegas was predominately a city that catered to adults with the exception of Circus Circus. Families welcome. So a family of 4 goes to enjoy a vacation: mom, dad and their 2 young boys.
One of the boys wanders off and enters the casino area. He finds a quarter on the floor and drops it into the nearest slot machine. And WHAM - he hits the jackpot for $1 million.
Circus Circus refused to pay out the jackpot. At ever entrance to their casino is a sign: YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO GAMBLE HERE. The boy was 10. The family sued and lost. The Nevada Gaming Commision upheld the casinos decision. They ruled it was an illegal bet.
Is it a true story? Or is it a made up one?
