Thanks Bill, I found a lot of information on this subject on Team Camaro and the consensus was the templates were helpful, but not completely accurate. There are several pictures of emblems on survivor cars and helpful commentary and measurements from others, including Charley. All this dates back 10-15 years and only came up with a search on the forums, not a general web search.

I now know where the emblems should be located relevant to the body line, which has been my biggest concern.
And the planes of placement were explained as well, with the -45 coming forward from the rear of the fender and the 20 being a somewhat arbitrary measurement down from the flange where the fender bolts to the core support. But using the information of distance from the body line and being parallel, I can go back to this fairly confident I will get them very close without using the planes as a guide. The survivor cars weren't all the same and not even side to side, so there is wiggle room and still have them look correct.
