Brent,

Look at the engine ID pad ( behind alternator ) and post
the codes you see. Also, look for the VIN stamping.

If not on this pad, look on the left rear of the block
( rough casting surface ) flange area that mates to the
transmission ( bell housing ). The VIN may be stamped there
and it is usually tougher to read. Also, look for the VIN
on the transmission main housing flange area where it meets
the tail housing. Probably on the passenger side.

That will at least tell you if any of the components are
originals. Also, the block casting number & dates will help
as well as the information on the cowl trim tag.

There's lot's more to look for, but this is probably as good
a starting point as any.
