I could be mistaken on the model numbers but the early 'full face' models were available in 7000 and 9000 RPM configurations. I think they both had the dark lime green inner band on the scale, white needle and flourescent orange 'red line'. I had a 7K model but it evidently went away a few years back. I still have two of the 9K models along with their EB9As.
If I recall correctly, the newer transistorized Super Tachs were only available as 8 & 10K versions, another way to differentiate. But as I look back at Joe's picture I see a Green line 9K piece on the far left, and a Blue line 7K piece sitting on top of it, and I thought the Blue lines were all transistor models.
