Re: United States Muscle Car Federation (???)
I want to respond to you point by point. In the first place it was NEVER advertised as a MUSCLE CAR Show, The event was the PONY CAR SHOWDOWN III in the second place the display of muscle cars was a USMCF Members only display so they could participate in a club event. Third you are completely out of line calling anyone’s car CRAP as you so eloquently put it. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it is crap.
No the show did not give us the turnout we expected I will give you that, but if you are going to tell the story have ALL the facts and tell the whole story. 1st it was Mothers Day weekend some people were simply away and out of town. Second We had NO LESS than twenty people call after the show saying that they wound up at the wrong show and just stayed there because they didn’t want to have to pay a second entry fee at our event, (although Three people left the other show and came to our event, when they realized it wasn’t where they wanted to be). It was a little confusing for some because they had to pass that event to get to ours and were “waved in” by those directing traffic, not to mention the fact several of our signs were taken down at exit 2 and replaced with signs pointing to the other show. That show was scheduled after ours and advertised on TV Radio and Newspaper to raise money for the towns Christmas lights. That’s why we set a later date for next year so we don’t have any conflict. And finally the person in charge of that event called the following Monday and apologized to our organization for scheduling the event on top of ours saying that they didn’t check the area show schedule before setting their date. See there’s a lot you left out.
And I’ll admit, It was the first show of the year for our organization and the first SOLO Pony Car Showdown, (in previous years the Pony Car Showdown had been part of the Autorama) and we didn’t really get it advertised as well as we should have due to many early shows being rained out in April. Rain played some part in the event as many of the cars we get from Virginia, West Virginia, Western PA and Far Western MD did not come out this year, it rained all day in Winchester and areas South and from Cumberland, West. It was very disappointing to have many classes with No cars in them at all, and to have only had 56 Pony Cars when the previous year’s event featured 118 Pony cars. You can believe this when I say it no one likes to spend over 2000 dollars on awards only to take most of them home. So believe me you weren’t the only one disappointed that day, I wasn’t exactly doing back flips.
The May 30, 2008 show has been advertised since May 13th, 2007, and it does include a Muscle Car Shootout as seen at many of our other events throughout the year, so if you wish, I invite you to come back next year and find out what our shows are really all about, if not then so be it. But be sure to have ALL the facts before you run a show in the ground next time.
Thank you to the guys who had all the nice things to say about our events, you know the work we put into them to make them successful and how hard Troy and myself work to make them standout above many others. The Nationals will be NO EXCEPTION it will be awesome once it takes off, we scheduled it with a season ending “Ghetto cruise-in” this year because we really want everyone to have a few laughs before shutting it down for the year, Belly laughs and aching jaws are guaranteed at that event, you won’t believe some of the stuff we have planned! See you at the shows
