No it's not a COPO car. The Knafel Acadian ran in the NASCAR Ultra/Stock drag racing class where the rules stated that the car and engine had to be of the same make. Knafel decided to go with the Canadian Acadian so they could run a very competitive 427 engine and still be considered a Pontiac. Because the Acadian used a Chevy drivetrain, this was considered legal by NASCAR. I don't believe NHRA ever did recognize any of the Canadian Pontiacs.
