When i purchased the truck in the Us the paperwork was sent to the border 3 days before I picked up the truck. I drove the truck to the border with a one day license from the state of New York and my insurance . the documents were there ready . I then paid the taxes at the border (gst) ,they inspected the truck and then drove the truck home.
Then I had it certified by Canadian Tire mechanic(free service)then I took the certificate to the ministry of transportation to change the title into my name in the province of Ontario.Then I payed the other taxes for the province at that time.
The taxes are the same as they would be if I purchased the truck in Ontario. The state of New york did not charge me tax.
