This quote was taken from Hot Rod magazine back then:
"In all, the L79 camshaft gave good throttle response, a great power curve, decent power brake vacuum and a lumpy, performance, 800-rpm idle to boot. Due to its overlap, the only thing it could not do was idle properly with an automatic transmission's stock stall-speed torque converter, so the L79 could only be ordered with a 3- or 4-speed transmission."
