Default 1971 Mustang 429 CJ Ram Air “J” Code Base Hardtop Coupe Project

Ok. Ready for something totally different? Available now is a 1971 429 CJ J Code Ram Air Mustang BASE Coupe. The original numbers matching 429 Cobra Jet engine is still in the engine bay. Spins freely. This is a 1 of 15 “J” Code Ram Air Notchback Or Coupe Mustangs. It was born with a stump pulling, fire breathing, Ram Air equipped 429 CJ in a Sedate, Plain Jane, little Grandma looking grocery getting Mustang. You could order the same Cobra Jet engine in the new swoopy fastback body style with Mach 1 package or.......have this Sleeper, unassuming, understated Muscle Mustang! Not even Sport Mirrors! Just one plain Chrome mirror on the drivers side. How’s that for Plain Vanilla? It still has Original Carburetor, Distributor, Intake, Manifolds, and Radiator. It is virtually untouched since it was sidelined so early in its life.
It is equipped with a factory C6 with the “R” Servo and the Bulletproof Staggered Shock Ford 9” N Case Traction Loc with 3.50 Rear gears. All that equipment is still on the car. It was Factory painted Medium Blue with Blue Standard Interior. I have not one, but TWO Complete Build Sheets as well as Marti Report and the Factory Body Buck Tag as well as Engine and Carburetor tags.
Now, the engine wears Chevy orange paint as it was rebuilt and painted orange before things like that mattered to anyone. The story is owners were at a Bar about 1977, come out feeling brave , got on the car hard, sideswiped a traffic sign with the front drivers side front and drivers fender, the car whipped around and struck a fire hydrant with the passenger rear quarter. The car still wears the ‘“Petey’s Tavern Preferred Customer” bumper sticker where this supposedly happened. That was the last time the car was driven. It sat until the car had the Ram Air Hood as well as the “J” Code 429 CJ Correct Ram Air Cleaner sold to a Mach 1 owner in Texas. A knowledgeable Ford enthusiast saved the rest of the car from being further parted. The floors, torque boxes, drop offs, trunk floors, and cowl are solid. Radiator Support, front fenders and quarters will obviously need replacement. Door bottoms have rust. Rockers and door jambs are solid. Hood is junk and not original to the car. Front Valance, Hood Hinges, replacement headlight bucket and many parts included. This is a UNIQUE Rare Car with asking price realistic to work still needed to bring this High Performance 429 Cobra Jet Mustang back to life! Only $13,950 Call 956-605-0546 or message me for more information.
