Pete; Thanks for supplying the link to the thread about the activities Frank Sanders was involved in during the 409-427 Z-11 era while Chevrolet was still factory backing and building lightweight race cars? Your pictures and articles were a tribute to the Frank Sanders legacy of the early 60’s in the competitive NHRA drag scene.
When focusing in on the connections of Harrell and Sanders Automotive invoice sheets Dick Harrell used for his work in transplanting of the 427’s for Yenko Chevrolet while in St. Louis, a question arose as to who was Frank Sanders? |

With both fellas being original Z11 owners, I’ve closely followed the careers of Frank Sanders & Dick Harrell. However, I cannot recall any kind of business venture between them. Not saying there wasn’t, but if there was, it was very short-lived. DH seems to have a history of many short term business ventures with his name seemingly attached to almost every dealer that sold 1967 427 Camaros! He was also involved with TWO totally different Bill Allen’s which is also crazy & something to keep in mind. There may have been another “Sanders” shop or business that DH worked with. Somewhere in the back of my mind is an image of a “Harrell & Sanders Automotive” invoice with the “Sanders” name strangely scratched out. So, whatever that means . . . . ?! BTW, Frank jumped over to Chryslers in 1964-5 then back to GM with a 1966 L79 Chevy II with his own S&S Headers sponsorship. That’s the last car I knew of that he raced. Frank Sanders was a MUCH respected man in the aeronautical world. Google his name sometime & you’ll read about a man that led a very impressive life!

Sanders and the address were crossed out on some of the 1967 Yenko paperwork
Harrrel was working out of a shop in St Louis MO. when he did the 1967 Yenko conversions Looks like Harrell was using the work order sheets from his previous shop |
