I wonder why the plate number was posted in the add, was it required?

Not sure when it started/stopped but Plate #’s in For Sale Ads was a CA requirement.
As you can see w/ both Wilson bros ‘Vettes, searching old CA vehicles today works well but 4x things required for success; #1- you need to know the Plate of course, #2- the vehicle needs to have actually been advertised back in the day, #3- the Newspaper page w/ Ad needs to have been scanned in recent years by the Newspaper groups which only a tiny amount of a percentage of papers have been, #4- you have to find the old Ad searching which usually involves sifting through tons of non-relevant results.
Got any old CA Plates you want to try Tim?

IIRC, in CA back in the day, the plate remained with the car when it was sold. Don't know if that's still the case or not.

Very interesting on the plate number required for advertising. I’ll have to check out my ‘67 with an original ‘67 Black Plate.

Pete, this one was put on in April of ‘67. The car left California in 1990.

Sorry Tim, I tried but no luck searching CA Plate UYM 972 or UYM972.
What dealer delivered your ‘67 Coupe new also what options/engine/trans?
Any chance you have the original owner’s phone # and/or any subsequent CA owners?

John Geer in Sacramento. It’s a 350 horse with blue leather and a smog pump. It was sold to an Air Force pilot and probably to another pilot in 1973. It left for Albany NY after that in 1990.
Thank you for trying the search.

Trying quickly, Greer Chevy looks good w/ lots of results to sift through also appears like April ‘67 when they opened their Sports Car Headquarters? I’ll zero in on the timeframes and search for any specific Ads but what’s the build date, just wondering how long it may’ve been on the lot before selling or is it known to have been ordered by the pilot?
Have you shared this car in another thread here that’s better to post in than this Brian Wilson memorial, although he and Dennis both being Midyear owners as the other two Ads would probably like it anyway?
I’m just on the way out but here’s one generic John Geer Ad now, I’ll look deeper again later.
