Default '61 Impala SS Convertible, 348/4-spd

Beautiful car...is there any way to document these cars other than the usual dealer paperwork?

----We need Verne to take a look at this! I do know that there is a big difference which 348 this is as there were two tri-power options. Also, cant remember how to tell a true SS as opposed to just the addition of a couple of emblems. And,,,please for the love of the GM Gods get rid of the skirts, curb feelers and dice.......Bill S

----I guess I should mention that other than the minor stuff I mentioned I really like the car! If it is a 350/348 the price is more than reasonable.......Bill S

I think I have this one handled gents. I was considering it too but then pealed back some layers...

VIN seems to match... 11867G158010... 1 = 1961, 18 = impala V8, 67 = 2 door convertible, G = Framingham, Ma Plant, 158010 = production sequence #

But I noticed the pad has an "HA" suffix code which is a 348ci/280hp tri-power automatic code, not 4 speed. I came to the conclusion that either the 4 speed is added or the 4 speed is real but the motor isn't original. "HA" is a turbo glide automatic code. Additionally, while being no expert in early pads, the photo provided from the seller shows paint on it and the font doesn't strike me being OEM but I will let those more knowledgable make factual statements.

In talking with the owner more, it seems this is a made up car to appear factory correct but not an original example.
