The cars are cool, but I'm not impressed by the ETs w/slicks...but Wayne's 10.59 on a set of Polyglass, now THAT is impressive!

That may be because the Vette is hooking up so well on the polyglass, and there isn't much of a 60 ft improvement with the slicks. No doubt 10.59 only glass is impressive. It doesn't hurt being 3300lb and having the perfect set up. What Wayne has done with that vette is darn right .

The Buick was just put together a few days before the event and obviously needs more track time.

The Hemi gained nearly a second with slicks over polyglass. Finally getting some power to the pavement! I wouldn't be surprised if next time around someone hits the high 9.0s. Guess who that might be.

If a F.A.S.T. car on slicks first time out hitting 10.25 doesn't impress, well.

I'm just saying, you can see cars on slicks at any track in the world...but 10s & 11s on Polyglass is a rare, rare deal...I know, because we ran our Camaro at the very first ever FAST event, and several events since then. But what did this last shootout, on slicks, really prove? That Wayne didn't have near enough converter...that the Hemi was making more power than a couple of wedge engines...that the cars were traction impared on the Polyglass?

As I said above, those cars are the cream of the "cool" crop, but I'm more impressed by the balancing act those guys perform on the Polyglass...slicks just lessens the whole point of those (F.A.S.T.) cars...

That's fair Rob! What all of you guys do at F.A.S.T. and Pure Stock competition is very cool!

Ahh, it's just sour grapes on my part, 'cause I was hoping to be there to watch, as well as kicking off Drag Week in one of our cars...neither happened, so I'd better get humpin' so I can spend the week with the Hot Rod folks next year!

BTW: what happened with the virgin-stock shootout? Did I miss it??

If your referring to the "Hemi-Challenger vs. the "Buick Stage 1". The Buick guys backed out. Their usually quick to point out being 3rd on one of the "Fastest muscle car" lists. Yet you can rarely get one of them to race a pure stock one.

Yes I own one. They have tremendous torque! Maybe top 10 though.
