Can those that have the correct info.....please list which COPO's and/or SS 69 Camaros received Chrome tailpipes with either Crossflow standard OR Chambered exhaust systems.
And based on Heartbeat City's repop tailpipe, may I assume that the chrome tip version was made in two pieces, with the chrome rear portion being welded to the forward aluminized portion ???? As Im not happy with corrosion problems on my repop chambered tailpipes, I'm considering spending $180 for new aluminized/polished stainless tips tailpipes......and retrofitting (welding) them to my chambered system as I'm have no idea if clamping them would work.... Anyway, your educated comments please !!!!!!!

I have a REAL pair of NOS tailpipes with the chrome tips. YES THEY were welded as 2 pieces as you decribe above. The chrome tail was welded to the aluminized bent section of tailpipe.
![]() These pipes are for the transverse muffler system and still have the GM part stickers on them. Never on a car.

The chambered system didn't come with the chrome tip provision
as it was phased out prior to standardization of the chrome tips.

The "official" date for chrome tailpipes was May 19, 1969.
