1969 69 1970 70 SS396 NOVA L78 ENGINE FAN RARE!!! Item number: 170182172921
I was watching this fan on e-bay and it sold with a buy it now price of $719.22.. Kinda high priced do you guys think??? It was pretty rusty also and needed a good blasting and re-painting.. I'm still looking for an original one but this one was just a little out of my price range... The attachment picture is not the fan that was sold on e-bay but is an original fan.. Rich |

Anybody educate US as to if and why ALL the 70 L-78 Camaros (1st built in Jan 70') had the 772 fan with clutch.....and some of the L-78 Nova's had the above non clutch fan set-up.
I'm also LOOKING for evidence that ALL the 70 L-78 Camaros had the left hand smog tube that went up and over the valve cover and NOT the 1969 Hockey Stick style going around front of V.C. There are NO available original as built 70 L-78 Camaro pics available. I want to site Cumby's 70 L-78 Chevelle as my examnple. Thanks,

Chuck, the fan issue puzzles me.. The thing with the smog tubes, and I think this is possibly the reason, is that with the camaros and novas that had the original dual snorkel air cleaner set ups, I think they utilized the non-"hockey stick style" arm on the smog tube possibly for clearance reasons with the snorkel. I would think that the "hockey style" tube would interfere with the snorkel.. But I do not know for certain just a guess ...

My neighbor came by to look at the Nova yesterday and he was reminiscing about his rally green 69 L-78 Nova that he bought brand new in 1969 for $3400.00. He insists that it came with a clutch fan and power steering. His name is Bill Sherman and his brother is Joe Sherman. He said that he got the car to go 12.9 at Lions with open headers and a hurst shifter. The car that he owns now is a early Falcon with a twin turbo Ford small block with nitrous that dynoed over 1200 horsepower at the flywheel. This guy knows his way around cars and he insists that his car old car had a fan clucth. After seeing the last post I wonder if he had a 1968 Nova.
