Cardinal Photos- For photo geeks or bird lovers -
I took these a few weeks ago and just got around to looking at them last week,
I was inside with the window open - with my shooting directly at eye level about 10 feet away - the Best one is a 200mm telephoto image. LENS CROP... probably never get another shot like that in my life. Taken with Canon 60D & Canon 70-200 F4 L - No filter. Hand held. All images are LENS CROPS They are reduced from 5200 Pix across to 1200 pix across at reduced res to fit here. for example: The one of the Cardinal's head is a full picture size of the actual 5200 pix image. That being said these were killer because of the scene... the cardinal's chick was in the top of the tree trying to fly around (CENTER OF FIRST PHOTO) and he came rushing around to ensure chicky didn't fall...

Growing up here on Long Island, you RARELY saw a Cardinal, only Blue Jays and Robins. Now the BJ's and Robins are VERY rare and Cardinals are everywhere! We even have a Bald Eagle with 2 chicks a mile away, and the Osprey population is huge now. Beautiful birds to watch.

Great pictures! My Cardinals and my Blue Birds spend the entire day pooping on the doors and mirrors of my trucks. I have to wash the trucks off daily.

i dig nature...since i moved to Kansas..i get to see a lot of birds..i am amazed at all of the Bald Eagles is see...my new favorite bird is a Summer Tanager..late in the summer they are a nice break from the blue jays(flying rats that are bullies) and the screaming crows...
way high in the trees around here they are everywhere...google them..brilliantly animated with an almost fluorescent, scarlet plumage...kinda cool..

I moved north of the Burbs, a lot of wildlife here. Love it. Good pics. The Cardinal looks mostly original. Lmao

Cool pics! Lots of birdlife here too...which we love, just not what they leave behind. Gaggles of Cdn. Geese were here a few weeks back fertilizing our yard...now we're busy mowing grass twice a week! Great Blue Herons as below pic are beautiful in flight but often bomb our waterfront which looks like someone spilled a few gallons of paint and is just a mess to clean up. The squirrel population multiplying these last few years is what I'm tired of. I feel bad drowning them so have been releasing them onto flotillas sending them out into the current to make new lives for themselves somewhere downstream. ~ Pete .

Great photos. I wish we had cardinals out here in California. I've always enjoyed watching the birds around our foothills. Although I have to say I get a bit tired of the crows and/or ravens.

we have lots of great herons..cranes and water birds in our area..many varieties..when i go to Iowa, its a biway for migration..you can see millions of birds right there in the corner of missouri/iowa/nebraska...
...and right now 7 vultures in my yard..i heard this commotion looked out the window and they are trying to clean up a ground hog i "may" have hit with my new zero turn yesterday...i saw some fur fly, but never saw it..now its food......never been this close to vultures..kinda cool...they are 15 feet from my window...unfortunately i walked out side..and can smell Mr Ground hog..so he gets the shovel over the hill today..if they dont get the job done

Buy some rubber snakes online and place by your truck. It worked for me. Had bluebirds seeing their refection in the windows of the house put snakes on window sills no more birds pecking on the windows.
