Default Odd duck 70 Camaro

I have the chance to purchase a 70 camaro rolling body.I was looking to do a nice driver type resto on a car and this one seemed cool.I found something even more interesting about it.The car is a base camaro V8 4 speed car with no motor or trans. The paint tag says it was orange with a black interior. Here is something that I find interesting. The car isnt an SS or Z28,but it has a 12 bolt in it with 3.07:1 gear and a rear sway bar.Could the 12 bolt and rear sway bar been part of a heavy duty suspention package or should I figure that it was pillaged out of somebody's 70 ss or Formula Firebird? The is nothing in the front that would seem unusual, the body has a heat only smallblock firewall, power steering, but has a 3/8" fuel line.Even if you ignored the 12 bolt,it seems like somebody was shopping for a low buck no frills hot rod when they ordered it.

So what is the popular opinion?BTW,the date on the center section is way to garbled to read.

Thanks for the info.I just found out from other sources too that if it is a Van Nuys car it wont have codes. It is,so I figure it is a standard SS350.This is actually just the kind of car I was looking for.I had a 71 Vette with the 270hp 350,and it was a real nice driver and could actually get out of it's own way.I figure I might build a casting correct 350 for it with a JET Qjet, some cleaning up of the heads and a good valve job and a real mild cam and it should be a real nice driver.I wish I had some way of authenticating the SS status, but that isnt all that important if I plan to keep it for a while. Thanks for the help.

My old 70 VN Z28 had 3 build sheets. The VN cars seem to be loaded with them. Have you checked on top of the fuel tank and in the front seats?

Ok, I could be off base here but I think the small block/big block Q-Jet cars have 2 fuel lines, a supply and a return line. If that car has only one fuel then it may still be something special ie: Z28 or L78. Again, I am not sure about this but it may be worth looking into.

There isnt much left of the car to go by.The car is a rusty bare shell, with a rear under it,and the subframe laying against the wall next to it.No sheet metal except the trunk lid,no interior,no gas tank, and the fuel line that is there along with anything else on the car looks like it was cut apart with side cutters or a sawzall.Even the shell needs a lot of work.I have a 74 camaro with a ton of NOS parts including fenders and reskinned doors,so I figured it might be worth giving the guy the $300 for the body and whatever he might want to leave the rear under it.The fact that is was a hugger orange 4 speed car was what got my attention first.
