Default AA/SA Record

I don't know if anyone has been paying attention to the Stocker records over on NHRA. 4 months or so ago everyone was talking about the new Mustangs with the super chargers sandbagging the season. Well, they went out and set the AA/SA record at 944@142+ mph. They chopped off almost a .25 of a second and lifted the mph 5. They are saying 780 horsepower with NHRA not mandating pulleys to regulate the supercharger. Regardless, one of my favorite classes looks upside down.

Well, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later! Not crazy about the supercharged stuff in stock or superstock. Lets see what happens next weekend at the Dutch Classics at Maple Grove. The air is usually killer there. I bet Charlie Wescott goes in the mid 8.30's with his SS/AH car.

Fezel gonna be there with his CJ? You're right about the air out there, Sam...just think what's gonna happen when guys start getting into those CJ engines? They haven't even had to turn a tap on them yet, and yet the records are taking a beating like they stole something!

I called Glendora a few days ago, and they have NO IDEA where the new Camaros are gonna be factored...

Problem is, though, if NHRA isn't gonna keep the drive pulley or boost in check, then it's game/set/match for *any* naturally aspirated car...no chance of competing with a car that makes it's own atmosphere.

Don was at cecil with his car in August. Car was fast but He has a little problem driving it IMO. I am not in favor of the non normally aspired motors but got a little beat up on that a few months back when I mentioned that on the Site. I don't think NHRA is going to beat up the Mustang to bad because Ford spends money and other than John Forces Mustang bodies they are not out there like GM and Chrysler. I think there is only maybe 2 Fords in Pro Stock that try to qualify. Maybe they will let the Nickey camaros run with the supercharger and do something for the Mopars. Then NHRA can get rid of all the other Stock classes and run Stock Eliminator like Pro Stock eliminator. I bet they would love not to tech ALL those Stock Eliminator cars! Out of hand like everything else.

Thats all changing. Ford is jumping into Pro Stock. Larry Morgan and I think Erica Anders. New engine program. They also have a new Funny Car engine as well. GM is leaving and Ford is going ahaed full tilt

I think Erica is already running a Ford. Interesting to see. Maybe bug Bob Glidden again??? Wonder if Warren J. will keep his K+N sponsorship for next year?

These cars are beasts. I just saw over on Classracer.com where the Tasca Ford CJ was reported to go 9.2/147 at a test and tune in NH last evening. Some people are wondering about the roll cages that aren't legal from the factory. Fezell went 9.83 in A/S and was told he couldn't dial under 10.00 because of roll cage and not get kicked. These cars will be in the 8's and maybe there will be a special class like SS/AH for the '68 Hemi's for these cars. CJ Shootouts? Wouldn't it be neat if NHRA could figure a way to run the CJ's with the Challengers and Camaros, keep them basically stock appearing and heads up. 1970 prostock all over again!

Yea, their own class. I like that. Let the factories fight it out like the late 60's early 70's!
