Default The L60's are coming---- The L60's are coming!!!!!

As I have been trying to do with some regularity, I am again giving a status update of the L60-15 Polyglas progress.

So far, the tire has made it through 2 rounds of engineering runs. The font is adjusted, the tires are torn down, etc. All of the things that done to insure that the tires are going to be the quality that deserves the Goodyear brand. John Kelsey reported to me that they have not had any suprises thus far. The plant is going into shutdown next week for a one week maintenance downtime. John said that barring any suprises, he expects to see these tires on his dock sometime in the later part of August.

These are the first non-OEM size tire that Kelsey has had reproduced and I have to say that a lot of the input from you guys pushed the tire over the edge and into production!!!!

So that you can get your measuring sticks out in the garage and see if these meats can fit, I was given the old sizing (what is the saying, whatever is old will be new again?).

On a 7" rim, the L60-15's have:
10.40" section width
27.97" outside diameter
9.40" tread width

For each 1/2" increase/decrease in rim width, section width increases/decreases .2".

And as always, if you are looking at reproduction Goodyears, contact me and I will get you a killer quote!!!

Finally some L60's I can drive around on with no fear of catastrophic failure.

I bought a 70 Camaro when I was 14. It was white and had chrome slots on it with L60 Polyglas on it. When 16 rolled around the Camaro was still sitting and I got a 70 Le Mans Sport with a 350 pontiac, muncie 4 speed and 3.23 limited slip. The tires were dry rotted but still held enough air to burn off the rest of the tread on the back roads. Nothing like smoke coming up through the rear speakers.

I just spoke with John about this very thing today. It has everything done but the paperwork from Ma Goodyear. Once it has a item number, it will be available for sale.

Thanks everyone for your patience. I wish they could have been out for this cruising season. Gives you time to find NOS HiJackers or Shackle extenions!!!!! Of course, you guys will be the first to know!!!!!!
