Default '65 GTO @ B-J

Just a warning.....B-J is listing a '65 Pontiac GTO, item # 945.2. Ad says this is a PHS documented car. It is a white/black 2 door hardtop, tri-power, 4 speed car. Either this is bogus or they are using photos of a car that I owned and restored several years ago.

The car is a PHS documented GTO but it was originally a 4 barrel powerglide car. When I purchased the car the tri-power had been added and the powerglide had been replaced with a turbo 350. After restoring the car I showed it and received a Jr. & Sr. award from AACA. I sold the car on Ebay to a dealer in N.Y., the next time that I heard of the car, it was on the Mecum auction last Jan. in Fla and it had a 4 speed transmission.

The AACA badge is mounted on the firewall, the serial number on this badge could be used to trace the ownership of the car at the time it won the awards. If anyone on this forum is at B-J, I would like to know for sure what the number on that AACA badge is.

It is a nice car if anyone is interested but it's not an original tri-power 4 speed car.

Default Re: '65 GTO @ B-J

------Tommy,,,I have a friend that many here on the sight know in Scottsdale that has sold many GTOs at B/J over the years. They all started life as GTOs and had un-enhanced PHS paperwork so from that standpoint were documented GTOs. The PHS paperwork was right there on prominent display. Almost all his cars had value adding options added that were not reflected on the PHS paperwork, and almost all his cars set monetary records when sold. Unless the bidders were blind they had to have read the PHS stuff and had to have known that these cars were "enhanced". My friend never felt he deceived anyone, and I dont think he did either. Now,,,If the PHS paperwork has been "enhanced" thats a way different can of worms!!! Just saying that the seller of your old car may be auctioning your old car in a similar manner not trying to decieve anyone. On the other hand..........Bill S
