I hate to post another WIW worth thread, but it seems that solid info on these cars is hard to come by. A friend called the other day and said he's thinking of selling his 69 Hurst/Olds. Here's what I know.
It's a fairly solid original car in need of a complete resto. It has some rust bubbles in the fenders, the paint is a little weak, interior is presentable, but would need to be completely gone through to be "special". It's a solid 20-footer, and a fun cruise night car. Runs good, drives good. Original block, but the top end has been replaced. Wrong heads and intake. Non-original trans. Original rear. A/C car. I know that's not a great description, but can anybody even hazard a ball-park guess? |

Oh boy! This sound like a rough diamond and the lack of special parts is going to hurt the value. Heads gone $3-4500. Intake gone $1500. Metal flapper breather gone $1500. Original OH code trans gone ?????. Is it an 'M' car (look in the middle of the VIN, M stands for Lansing and it has to be that otherwise it is a fake). With all of the work and lack of original parts, beware of the money you have to lay down. If you want to take it to show quality, you can do it, just be prepared to spend the cabbage. I hate say this but, $8K????
Where is the car at? I see you are in Kansas, where at? I grew up in the southeast corner and I know the state well. Just interested in how more of these cars keep popping up.

I agree that there's a LOT of money to be spent here to make it right, but I can't see how a real H/O thats running and driving could be worth less than $10K. It may not pencil out , but the world still has some DREAMERS out there, you know? (Dreamers often have $10K to start the dream. They almost never have the $50K to see it through....)

Thanks for the insight guys. I don't think I'm a player on the car right now, although I would like to own a 69 H/O someday. Too many projects, not enough money, room, or time.
