I have seen more CJs than 390s!
However, I am sure you know the 390 wasn't built in '70. 215 CJ stick cars were built, although I don't know how many were Eliminators. However, 243 Cougars had CJ/automatic combo, and of those, 192 were Eliminators. I have found something online that 374 Eliminators were built with the CJ, but it's not documentation. If true, that would mean 131 Eliminators were CJ/sticks. Base Cougars and XR-7s are rarer with the CJ. |

A buddy had a new 70 Eliminator....same color as in the first post. It was a 428 CJ, 4 speed, oil cooler, rev limiter, black and white hounds tooth guts...gorgeous car. Too bad it's long gone (another story) but the engine lives in a barn with a spun bearing. Rick's car had dog dish caps/trim rings. It didn't have any 'Cobra Jet' on the scoop as depicted above. His family owned the Lincoln Mercury dealership and he regularly had hot cars back in the day.

I don't think the CJ script on the hood is correct. :twocents:
