Default Best Carb for 440 Four Speed ?

My Challenger has a incorrect 71 auto carb on there and it is incorrect for my car anyways so off it goes soon.

Want to know what i can use for now till i find my original 4737S Carter AVS someday.

Car is bone stock 440/375 HP Four Speed, Looking to get better performance than the stocker carb, What is good to use?
I did a google search and it seems most guys like the Edelbrock 1407 with 750 CFM. Still want to use my stock fuel line and choke etc..

Give me your opinions,Thanks

I like both the 750 Holley vacuum secondary and I also have an old Carter comp 750 that works well. The Eddy copy of the Carter maybe ok but I have heard of quality issues mostly that they need cleaned out right out of the box, junk inside. Good luck on the 4737, very rare.

The 4737S has come up twice this year alone on ebay.

One rebuilt unit sold for $300
One needing rebuild sold for $260

I passed on both of them as the build date on both these carbs were after my build date.

I will eventually find one sooner or later

What is the part# for that Holley?

Its a 3310. I like to get the quick change vacuum pod and spring kit, you just open the lid and change springs until the secondaries come in when you like.

My opinion is leave it be! Do not get me wrong but you say you have the incorrect carb and you want to know what incorrect carb you can use till you find the original carb??? but then you want better performance over stock?? If your engine is in tune and all is in good order on a stock engine your changing from holley to carter etc might change a couple tenths nothing you will ever see.. drive your car have fun!
