Is there anyone here who could look at a photo of a 69 Hemi engine vin stamp and give an opinion as to whether it looks legit or not?

Make sure you understand the casting date topic well. Some 70 hemi cars for example, could have much older cast date blocks in them (66 casting dates show up).
I would think Galen has the best opinion the casting dates for hemi engines, before you purchase only based on a stamp. He may know the casting dates of blocks around the vin of the car you are considering. |

I'd be happy to look at it. The date code issue is well known. For example most 71 Hemi cars have 1969 casting dated blocks.

Here's an example of the VIN stamping that was on the block in my 1970 Charger (the one that was 21 VINs higher than my car). The casting date was 5-26-69.

I think he does favor hemi cars over all else, maybe the response time would be good. |

![]() "And by the time you track him down and get an answer the car will be looooonnngg gone." X2 - A few years ago, I called and asked if he could look at my '70 Hemi Challenger. I told him that I was willing to pay his fee. He said that he'd get back with me. Six months (at least) later I got the call back. Sorry, but I can't do business with people who demonstrate this level of poor customer service. Of course, he did take the time to record my VIN and #s for his data base! |

That was my Hemi Charger in question. The stamp turned out to be correct and the car just sold for $110K.
