"1969 Z-28 Cowl tag, removed when car was about 2 years old, car no longer exists" 2 things: The rust at the bottom edge of tag against metal has more than 2 years of rust,IMO, & point 2, seller has no idea of the mindset of anyone in the auto hobby or auto recycler business circa 1971 or they would know that no one and I mean NO ONE, cared about that tag, understood what it meant or would have any reason to save it for a "45 year down the road fake". More than likely someone's treasured car that has been stolen and chopped up into pieces about the size of that tag and being sold off.
Dave, if it isn't illegal(and it isn't), it should be. Go Erica

even with a changed tag more counterfitting is needed. Its a slippery slope. Anyone notice the nos warranty booklets for sale by our friend in florida? Their isnt a pop i trust unless its been researched. With the release of the ncrs documents i bet the fake ones already out there are getting replaced.

Years ago I reported a listing for a cowl tag for sale to ebay, along with a long letter explaining the fraud issue, ethics and the misrepresentation it creates. Obviously, they don't see it as a problem and those listings have continued.
The most 'we' can do is keep records of the ones for sale in case they turn up on a done car. And then what can we do with that knowledge to help someone? Verne |

For starters, any time you see a loose VIN or Cowl tag, type all of it's numbers here in an sYc topic so it can be referenced in a google search in the future. |
