You have to feel for the latest 'owners' to a degree though - they enjoyed and were proud enough of it to put it in local car shows so it would hurt to have to give it up certainly!
You would hope that since they in fact bought it from a dealership they shouldn't be out of pocket or lose any original purchase money.. |

Absolutely -- it really sucks these people got stiffed ... too bad all those that are about to purchase classics are not aware of sites such as sYc where they can ask Qs in an attempt to varify a vehicles history ... TAZ

These are happy stories, but you never get a follow up on the aftermath that will be taking place through insurance companies and courts. If the original owner got paid for full lose when stolen, might have a legal claim to the car. This might vary from state to state as time passes. The person who bought the car from the dealer, might be able to file a claim with their insurance carrier because it was legally taken from them by law enforcement. Then that insurance company will investigate to find a legal recourse. I have lost a vehicle to the IRS that raided a business that i had a car consigned to sell. My insurance paid me in full for total loss. The insurance wanted to cheat me, so i got a certified apprasial and they paid that full amount. It was like 5K more than what they wanted to pay. Roger

I feel horrible for the present/now previous owner. Have a car for 30 years and have to give it away because it was stolen. I hope they get compensation of some sort.
