Default virus

Third person I have been told that their computer crashed after receiving an e-mail from Chevy454. I was asked to post this for them since their computer is down. The e-mail subject was "questionaire". It even ate up the "norton antivirus". I believe Schonye received this a while back as well. Anyone else? Is this from you Rob, or someone with a similar address perhaps. I don't know much about viruses', but I know enough to not open an e-mail attachment without knowing the sender. And in this case, we all recognize chevy454.

It is not likely that the virus actually was sent from Rob's computer. More likely, the virus was sent from some other computer, and the sender has Rob's email address in his email address book. Virus writers like to hide the real sender's adderss, but sometimes you can figure it out by looking at the email headers.

Not to "pass the buck", but I think Don's right. I had a variant of the Klez virus (I believe "h") a while back, and it's VERY tricky. It disguises itself, and more times than not, you send it to yourself, and infect yourself again. Really nasty.

You should run regular virus scans, both free/online (Symantec is a good one) and licensed. Unfortunately, they can't keep up with the new viruses, but it's better than nothing.

Dave: if this person needs ANY help, feel free to shoot me a pm, and you can be the go between or whatever. Or, better yet, post your questions to this thread, as there are plenty more competent computer people than myself browsing.

If I had to guess guys, I would say the sender of the virus is our Yenko Clone friend in Canada who is very upset with Chevy 454. I am sure being of the criminal mind he is, he must have a similar criminal minded friend who works with computers instead of fake cars. Something to investigate, I just have a hunch on this one.

Thanks for the replies, and I am not pointing fingers or making accusations. It has not happened to me. I will forward your message Rob. Thanks again!

Motownmuscle

Call it "Attack of the Killer Clones"

Sorry though, it is not the guy in Canada with the clones. I received the virus, Chevy 454, sometime early last year way before he was ever an issue.

There is a new virus going around that just started last week. Check some of the antivirus sites for details on it and how to get rid of it. And stay away from file sharing websites, they are just breeding grounds.
