Default 66' heads

does anyone know if 66' 427 heads oval port # 3872702, date code c1166 sounds right for a 450hp yenko (67') , I got achance to pick them up for a grand is that a good deal.

xman,

The 3872702 heads were used on the lower performance engines. I.E. the Corvette 427/390, Chevelle 396/325, etc...

The heads you need are either the 3873858 (for 1966), or the 3904391 (for 1967).

Both of these are square post and would have originally been installed in a HP application, but WHICH one would depend on the build date of your car.

You want to look for rectangular port heads dated later in the year. Those are mid/late 66 heads. You'll probably want very late 66 heads dated Nov or Dec, or probably early 67 heads. I'd definitely pass on those heads.
