Default 427 Block Numbers

Hi,
I just bought what is supposed to be a 427. The casting number looks like 3963854, which I cannot find at mortech, although there is a 3969854, which is a 396.
The deck has TO317CKN stamped on it???????
Any ideas? Is this a 396 or 427?
Thanks for the input.
Rich

It's neither.It's a 1970 402 CID 3969854 block.
CKN was coded for a 1970 330 HP TH400 Chevelle & Monte Carlo. It was RPO LS3,& is a two bolt application.

Yeaaaaa, exactly what I was afraid of. Grasping as straws hoping that the pad data would show otherwise!!!
Looks like I have a phone call to make.

Anyone know this machine shop? The work order says 427, but I don't know if they just took the owners work for it, or know something I don;t.

RIch,
My phone book shows a Bud's Machine and Engine Shop in Lakewood, WA which is down by Tacoma. It's not a shop I have heard of though. 12019 Pacific Highway South, phone number is 253-588-2837. And they have a web site

http://www.budsmachine.com/

No luck finding a number for Brett Young though.

Bought a 396 once that the guy said was a 427. Measured it and it was. Had been bored big time.
Junked it as it lacked "structual integrity "
Good luck.
