Does anybody know if there is a specific reason Yenko only offered certain colors? Was it just the colors he liked? Or was he worried that ordering groups of cars in really oddball colors might not get built by Chevrolet? Just curious if there is a real reason for the specific colors for his cars.

I think he chose colors that fit two categories, the perpetually popular ones like green, blue and red, and then some lessor quantities of 'new' colors like citrus, bronze, and olympic gold. This way he could have colors for all tastes, not every shade, but he had his basics covered.
However, some of his choices for the 'new' colors backfired on him. I'll use gobi beige for an example so nobody get's too excited! There is a good reason why so many of the beige cars seem to be sold in PA - not many dealers ordered them from Yenko. Gobi was one of the colors dropped in the second order of cars, and is commonly one of the colors with the latest sales dates. Not to say that other colors didn't languish on dealers lots as well, but gobi was a tough color to plunk $4500 down on. So, the color choices worked for and against Yenko.

we used to joke the ugly ones survived..meaning odd colors usually were purchased by a different crowd and some how made it over the years...how many cool cars have you followed up on over the years to find it is Granada Gold with Gold interior or heaven help us Gobi Beige or light green with green guts...

Ironically, my original owner walked into Nankivell Chevrolet on 7/29/70, and actually chose the gobi beige over Kevin C's forest green deuce that were sitting on the showroom floor. I asked him why he chose the beige over the far more popular green, he said he just liked it better! Oh, and he paid full window sticker price, another rarity for the deuces.
