Was that a functioning hood scope?--Thats what was so cool back then----- you couldn't wait to see what GM or Hi-po car dealers were going to come out with even in the 1/2 year---

Looks very similar to the hood scoop used on the AMC Rebel Machine

That's what I was thinking. Of course, it wouldn't be as much of a sleeper or as easy to hide from insurance companies either(not that the stripes didn't make it jump out at you).

Check out this link for some more info on the Hurst Jeepster Commando. I think it used the same scoop we see in the picture of Don's prototype Deuce, with the exception of the front opening remaining closed which is understandable considering Don's prototype Deuce was only a 250 6 cylinder.

Check out the tach in the backside of the Jeepster scoop.

Tell me that ain't Dixco.
There's got to be a catalog or something somewhere showing the manufacturer of this scoop. I doubt Don, Hurst, or AMC made it up. I'd bet a it's a Dixco piece ultimately, made by the Dixson instrument company. Guess we'll have to wait until that piece of documentation pops up.
